Activated carbon is a general term for carbon materials prepared by pyrolysis and activation of carbon-containing raw materials such as wood, coal and petroleum coke, which have developed pore structure, large specific surface area and rich surface chemical groups, and strong specific adsorption capacity.
The carbon content, specific surface area, ash content and pH value of activated carbon and the pH value of the aqueous suspension all increased with the increase of activation temperature. The higher the activation temperature, the more complete the volatilization of the residual volatiles, the more complete the micropore structure, the greater the specific surface area and adsorption activity.
